Samuel Phillip Triffett

Born on 24 October 2014 in Hobart, Tasmania, to Nial and Jenny Triffett, Sammy's early childhood in Fern Tree was marked by creative nurture and growing mysteries before his family's July-August 2018 transition to Clivilius. At barely four years old, he became one of Bixbus's youngest settlers, adapting with remarkable resilience to an alien world whilst forming deep bonds with his adopted brother Alexander Martinez, demonstrating childhood's extraordinary capacity to rebuild normality from impossibility.

People

Naomi Grace Simmons

Naomi Grace Simmons (15 March 1985 – 14 January 2023) was an art gallery assistant and community volunteer whose passionate advocacy for the arts transformed Silverton's cultural landscape before her life was tragically cut short at thirty-seven. Her journey from Broken Hill's mining heritage to Silverton's artistic renaissance embodied the transformative power of creative expression, whilst her murder following a sculpture unveiling exposed the vulnerabilities that can shadow those who dedicate themselves to nurturing community through culture.

People

Louise Elizabeth Jeffries (née Greyson)

Louise Elizabeth Jeffries lived forty-seven years navigating the delicate balance between professional ambition and family devotion before tragedy claimed her life in the 2018 Jeffries Manor Massacre. Born into Granton privilege as the daughter of a successful lawyer, she built a distinguished career as a financial analyst whilst raising four children and managing the complexities of marriage into Tasmania's most enigmatic dynasty, her sharp mathematical mind and compassionate nature making her both a respected community figure and devoted mother whose final desperate attempts to protect her family would end in the very rooms where she had once found her greatest happiness.

People

Grace Eleanor Jennings (née Levis)

Grace Eleanor Jennings, née Levis (1970–1993), was a Welsh care worker brought to Belkeep in 1990 by the Guardian Sylvie Sprake, one of a handful of displaced people offered a way out through the Portal. Quiet and watchful rather than commanding, she became one of the raw settlement's steadying presences and married the Guardian Cody Jennings in 1991. She died the morning after giving birth to their twins, Freya and Fryar, in July 1993, having lived just long enough to give the settlement its next generation.

People

Charlie Edward Claiborne

Charlie Edward Claiborne, born 15 August 1970 in Melbourne, stands as one of Tasmania's most decorated and complex law enforcement officers. A Detective Sergeant whose career spanned over three decades, Charlie embodied both the nobility and burden of public service—a man whose dedication to justice came at considerable personal cost, leaving fractures in both his psyche and his family life that would ultimately shape the trajectory of his final years in the force.

People

Nathan James Porter

Nathan James Porter (b. 9 April 1993, Bristol) was an environmental engineer raised in a cool, water-obsessed household who turned a childhood on the Severn into a career in sustainable irrigation. Disillusioned by bureaucracy, he was recruited by Killerton Enterprises and crossed the Portal to Bixbus in 2018, where he built the settlement's water infrastructure. He married Sophie Bennett of Brierly in 2020, and the couple raised two children, Samuel and Elise, while Nathan worked against his own upbringing to be a warmer father than his own had been.

People

Jamie Nigel Greyson

Jamie Nigel Greyson was born into displacement, spending his formative years navigating constant relocation and family dysfunction that left him perpetually searching for stability he never quite found. The youngest surviving child of lawyer Peter Greyson and nurse Nola Greyson, he grew up in the shadow of his accomplished older sister Louise and the grief surrounding his younger sister Sarah's death, developing a gentle, caretaking nature that led him into aged care nursing whilst masking deep emotional fragility that would leave him vulnerable to manipulation and loss.

People

Brock George Polden

Senior Constable Brock George Polden embodies the steadfast spirit of rural Australian policing—a man whose deep roots in the red earth of Broken Hill anchor him as firmly as the mine shafts that pierce the landscape. Born to farming stock and raised amongst the Outback's vast horizons, Brock returned home after urban policing experience to serve the community that shaped him, bringing methodical observation skills honed through geocaching to bear on rural crime investigation.
